FRANKFORT, KY (April 25, 2024)—Sen. Max Wise, R-Campbellsville, and Rep. Michael “Sarge” Pollock, R-Campbellsville, have secured millions of dollars over the next two years to support local road projects in Taylor County.
As a provision in House Bill (HB) 1, Wise and the Senate successfully leveraged $450 million from Kentucky’s $3.7 billion budget reserve trust fund (BRTF) to boost the state’s road, bridge, and highway repair efforts in the state road plan. The bill invests $2.7 billion total from the BRTF for transformative one-time investments across the commonwealth.
Included in the state’s two-year road plan, HB 266, Pollock and Wise helped secure over $12.63 million for planning, designing, obtaining rights-of-way, utility work, and construction of various projects in the county including
$5.5 million to extend KY Highway 3350 (Campbellsville Bypass) from KY Highway 289 to US Highway 68 on the east side of Campbellsville,
$4.5 million for a third KY Highway 210 improvement project segment from LaRue County to Taylor County to address safety on KY Highway 210 from east of Corinth Church (mile point 0.6) to KY Highway 883 in Taylor County,
$840,000 to address safety and geometric deficiencies along KY Highway 70 from 0 miles east of Roberts Road (near Elkhorn Baptist Church) to near KY Highway 76 (mile point 3.1 to mile point 4.1),
Nearly $1.1 million to improve safety, access, geometrics and drainage on KY Highway 70 in Campbellsville from US Highway 68 to Country View Court, and
$715,000 to support a bridge project on South Columbia Avenue at Buckhorn Creek.
House Joint Resolution 91 includes scheduled projects and anticipated needs for the remaining four years of the six-year highway construction plan. Find HJR 91 HERE. Taylor County-specific projects can be found on page 219.
Additional provisions of HB 1 supporting local projects in Taylor County included
$9.1 million to the City of Campbellsville for raw and finished water transmission upgrades,
$5.9 million to Taylor County Fiscal Court for the Taylor County Community Development Project, and
$500,000 to the Taylor County Fiscal Court for rural economic development initiatives in conjunction with Campbellsville University.
Finally, Pollock and Wise also secured $16.5 million in a special offer of assistance for Campbellsville Independent Schools to support facility improvements of Campbellsville Middle School. This funding was authorized through the biennial state budget, HB 6.
The 2024 Legislative Session concluded on Monday, April 15.
