Two Adair County residents arrested after a call was answered on reported barn lumber theft

   Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss reports that on November 10, 2017 at approximately 6:30am Chief Deputy Aaron Rainwater responded to Melson Ridge Road on a complaint of individuals stealing barn lumber. Upon arrival 28 year old Patrick Loy of Columbia and 28 year old Crystal Bennett also of Columbia were arrested on charges of Criminal Trespassing 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd degree, Theft by unlawful taking (barn lumber) and trafficking Methamphetamine more than 2 grams.

Loy and Bennett were lodged in the Adair County Jail on $10,000.00 bonds. More charges are pending in this case. Deputy Rainwater was assisted on scene by Constable Joe Collins.

Meth Lab discovered in Adair County

Adair county Sheriff Harrison Moss reports that on Sunday morning at approximately 12:02am Deputy Josh Durbin responded to a welfare check at

31 L Handcock Road. Upon arrival Deputy Durbin observed a active meth lab in the back floor of a vehicle at that residence occupied by 41 year old Michael Corbin of Columbia. Corbin was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine 2nd offense, manufacturing methamphetamine 2nd offense, Unlawful possession of a meth precursor 1st offense and Tampering with physical Evidence. Also arrested on the scene for a warrant out of green county for drug charges was 33 year old Lisa Burton. Cited for court and released was 35 year old John Davis from California on charges of Illegal Possession of a Legend Drug, and 48 year old Robbie Burton of Columbia on charges of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Deputy Durbin was assisted on the scene by Sheriff Harrison Moss, Trooper Shirley, and officer Shirley with the Tompkinsville police Dept for meth lab clean up.

Columbia Police arrest man on drug charges after theft complaint .

  On 11-08-17 Columbia Police Department responded to a local retailer on Hudson street to a reported theft . Upon arrival officers located the individual still on property where he was took into custody . Arrested was 26 year old Josh Ford of Columbia on charges of

-  Public intoxication excludes alcohol

- Possession of Marijuana

- Theft by Unlawful Taking under 500

An investigation continues into the theft of a truck from an automobile dealership which was later found totally destroyed by fire

A 2004 Chevrolet truck was found burning around 4:50 a.m. Monday on B.A. Coffey Road, about two miles east of Russell Springs off KY 619.

Later Monday morning, the truck was reported stolen from IGO Motors on KY 80 near Russell Creek Hill in Adair County.

A two-vehicle collision late Monday night on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway injured one person and killed livestock being transported

Deputy Dustin Bunch’s investigation determined the collision occurred at 10:50 p.m. when a 1999 Chrysler van operated by Francis Brettnacher, 39, of Nancy, rear-ended a cattle trailer being pulled by a 2013 Ford F-150 truck operated by Logan Smith, 24, of Russell Springs. Both vehicles were westbound near the 64- mile marker when the collision occurred.

Brettnacher was transported by Russell County EMS to the Russell County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Smith escaped injury. Two of the six cattle being transported were killed, others were injured.

Sgt. Mark Cromwell assisted with the investigation.

A Russell Springs man arrested Saturday night on domestic violence and drug-related charges

Nathan J. Quillen, 39, was taken into custody by Deputy Evan Burton and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center for Domestic Violence 4th Degree Assault.

Later that same night, Deputy Dustin Bunch was called back to the same location for further investigation that resulted in additional charges against Quillen including Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree-Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Four persons were arrested on drug and other charges during a traffic safety checkpoint Sunday evening in northern Russell County

Sheriff Clete McAninch & Deputies were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on U.S. 127 near the intersection of KY 76 around 6:30 p.m. Sunday when a Dodge Ram truck was observed turning in a manner that appeared it was avoiding the checkpoint. The truck was stopped moments later in the parking lot of Lakeside Motors.

A computer-check of the four occupants determined the driver and one passenger were wanted on drug-related warrants in Boyle, Bullitt and Jefferson counties.

Deputy Evan Burton utilized K-9 Matt around the exterior of the truck with K-9 Matt alerting to the odor of narcotics emitting from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the interior of the truck resulted in the discovery of approximately 2 grams of “crystal meth” inside a can specially made for concealing contraband, a glass “smoking pipe” and a small quantity of marijuana.

The driver, Jerusha Fitzgerald, 43, of Eminence, KY, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Fitzgerald was also served with an indictment warrant from Boyle County charging her with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-Meth in connection with her arrest in Danville on August 5th (2017).

The front seat passenger, Adam Morris, 50, of Louisville, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Morris was also served with warrants from Bullitt and Jefferson counties on various charges including Possession of Meth.

The rear seat passengers were also arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They are Mackenzie Fitzgerald Holloway, 18, of Eminence and Joshua Smither, 21, of Pleasureville, KY.

Semi Truck accidnt in Adair County

Sheriff Harrison Moss report that on Friday November third The Adair County Sheriffs Department was dispatched to a accident around eight and a half miles down south 55. Deputy Joey Keith Investigation Determined that

59 year old Steven Miles from Louisville Kentucky was driving a Semi Fully loaded with cases of vinegar north bound on South 55 when for an unknown reason dropped off the right shoulder of the Road. Miles was unable to bring the semi back onto the road and flipped. The Semi then traveled approximately 75 feet before coming to rest on its side. Miles was uninjured in the accident. Hwy South 55 was blocked off for approximately

10 hours while emergency personal cleaned up the accident. Deputy Keith was assisted on the Scene By Deputy Padget, Deputy Durbin Sheriff Moss, The Kentucky State Police, Adair County Fire Dept. Adair County EMS and the Adair County Emergency Manager Mike Keltner

2 Vehicle injury collision on KY 55 In Adair County

Columbia Police Department was dispatched to a 2 vehicle injury collision on KY 55 north Thursday night 11-2-17  at approx 7:45 pm.

  The collision occurred when Adrian Stotts 36 and his wife Ashley Stotts 34 of Columbia where operating a 2013 Toyota scion and had  stopped in the left lane of traffic which is also used as a passing lane awaiting to make a left turn into a local business parking lot .  While awaiting traffic the Stotts vehicle was struck in the rear by 24 year old Dakota Bigerstaff who was operating a 2015 dodge rogue .

   Adrian and his wife Ashley were transported to TJ Health of Columbia by Adair County EMs .   Adrian was then transferred by Air Evac life flight to the University of Louisville med center.  As of this release on 11-5 -17 he is still listed in serious condition .  His wife Ashley was treated and released.  Bigerstaff was Uninjured in the collision . 

   The collision is being investigated by CPD Ofc Josh Brockman.

A traffic-stop for an equipment violation turned into a DUI & drug trafficking arrest Thursday night.

 

 

Just before 7:30 p.m., Deputy Ethan Pike observed a 1989 Honda car pull onto U.S. 127 from West KY 76 with no tail-lights. Deputy Pike pulled the vehicle over moments later at the intersection of Damron Creek Road. The car was being operated by Ryan Sheen, 35, of Liberty.

The roadside investigation resulted in Sheen being arrested for DUI 3rd Offense, Driving on DUI Suspended License, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.

A passenger, 39 year old Rabecca Hobbs of Elkhorn, was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both were processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.

 

Russell Springs Mother & BoyRiend arrested for Criminal Abuse of Two Children

 

A joint investigation by the Russell County Attorney’s Office, Cabinet for Health & Family Services Child Protection Division and the Russell County Sheriff’s Department has resulted in the arrest of a Russell Springs mother and her boyfriend for Criminal Abuse of two children.

The investigation began Monday, October 30th, when suspected abuse of a child was reported to the local social services office. That phase of the investigation by SSW Ashley Watts resulted in three children being removed from the residence and placed in safe environments that same evening.

On Friday morning, Jessica Caseman, 26, and Scott Crabb, 39, were arrested at 347 Lakeway Hills, Russell Springs, on warrants obtained by Det. Joey Hoover charging both with two counts of Criminal Abuse 2nd Degree.

Caseman and Crabb were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center by Deputy Ethan Pike and Officer Nathan Bradshaw of the Russell Springs Police Department.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

 A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers from 7917 Burkesville Road to 9135 Burkesville Road, Antioch Church Road, F Burris Road, Bird Road, D Gowen Road, R Gowen Road .

The advisory has been issued due to main line Leak.

           

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.
