FRANKFORT, KY (April 25, 2024)—Sen. Max Wise, R-Campbellsville, and Rep. Amy Neighbors, R-Edmonton, have secured millions of dollars over the next two years supporting local road projects in Metcalfe County.
Included in the state’s two-year road plan, House Bill (HB) 266, Neighbors and Wise helped secure $10.83 million for planning, designing, obtaining rights-of-way, utility work, and construction of various projects in the county including:
$2.27 million for horizontal and vertical alignment spot improvements to US Highway 68 in Metcalfe County, north of Edmonton, and the KY Highway intersection,
$2.08 million for new construction to reroute KY Highway 90 to the south of Summer Shade (bypass),
$1 million to reconstruct KY Highway 163 as a new route on the west side of Edmonton at Gary Bell Road (mile point 10) south of Edmonton crossing US Highway 68 (Stockton Street) 2,000 feet west of the courthouse square to US Highway 68 (Greensburg Street) at the interchange with Nunn Parkway (mile point 9.8), and
$620,000 for intersection improvements at US Highway 68 and KY Highway 80. Project options include realignment of the north approach, widening for turn lanes and a roundabout.
House Joint Resolution (HJR) 92 provides over $1.25 million to support county priority resurfacing projects. They are as follows:
$508,000 to resurface Lone Star Ridge Road,
$482,000 to resurface Reese Hurt Road,
$182,000 to resurface Wilbur Glass Road,
$33,000 for the City of Edmonton to resurface Shirley Street, and
$21,000 for the City of Edmonton to resurface Scott Drive.
Additionally, HJR 91 includes scheduled projects and anticipated needs for the remaining four years of the six-year highway construction plan. Find HJR 91 HERE. Metcalfe County-specific projects can be found on pages 171-172.
