Sheriff’s Office Arrests Columbia Man On Multiple Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Adair County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Hunter Tweedy made a traffic stop on a 2000 Kawasaki Motorcycle for having expired tags. Upon getting a consent to search by the operator, Deputy Tweedy located drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Jason L. Wethington, age 45 of Columbia, was arrested and charged with:

Failure to or Improper Signal

No Registration Plate

No Registration Receipt

Failure to Produce Insurance Card

Failure of Owner to Maintain Insurance

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (1st Offense Methamphetamine)

Possession of a Controlled Substance (1st Degree, 1st Offense Hydrocodone)

Drug Paraphernalia

Possession of a Controlled Substance (2nd Degree Drug Unspecified)

Wethington was lodged in the Adair County Jail.

The arrest was made by Deputy Hunter Tweedy, who was assisted by Deputy Nick Barber and Columbia Police.
