FRANKFORT, KY. (April 18, 2024) – The following is a statement from Sen. Max Wise, R-Campbellsville, on the Governor’s Senate Joint Resolution 176 veto.
“The Governor’s veto of Senate Joint Resolution 176 on the proposed Workforce Attraction and Retention Task Force exhibits his shortsightedness and acceptance of a stagnant Kentucky. This task force would directly address how to make Kentucky more competitive and attract a skilled and talented workforce to fill the 131,000 open jobs Kentucky currently has.
“Gathering leaders in economic development, tourism, education, and labor is crucial to tackling these vacant jobs, and this task force would do just that. All of these elements play a vital role in shaping the future of our workforce and, unfortunately, the Governor can’t see the value this task force would bring. Very disappointed.”
Sen. Max Wise, R-Campbellsville, represents the 16th Senate District which includes Adair, Allen, Metcalfe, Monroe, and Taylor Counties and eastern Warren County. He is Senate Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee chair. Wise also serves as a Senate Education Committee member and is a member of the newly formed Families and Children Committee and Health Services Committee. Additionally, he is an Education Assessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee member.
