Senator Wise: Reflection On The Reason For The Season

A Christmas message from Sen. Max Wise:

As we enter this Christmas season, I want to extend my warmest wishes to you and your family. This time of year invites us to reflect on what truly matters: our faith, the people we love, and the communities we are blessed to call home.

The Christmas season is a time of joy and deep meaning. For those of us who walk in faith, it is a celebration of the birth of Christ, the Prince of Peace, and a reminder of the hope and salvation He brings into our lives. It is in His light that we find purpose, comfort, and a call to serve others.

Throughout the past year, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the strength and compassion that define our communities. From educators and healthcare workers to small business owners, volunteers, and everyday Kentuckians, your dedication and resilience continue to inspire me. You are the heartbeat of this commonwealth.

The holidays give us a chance to slow down and reconnect with what matters most. Whether it’s attending Mass, sharing a meal with family, volunteering in your parish, or simply spending time with loved ones, I hope this season brings you peace and renewal.

I also recognize that for many, this time of year brings its own challenges. If you know someone who may be facing hardship or loneliness, please reach out. A kind word or a simple gesture can make a world of difference. Our communities are strongest when we support one another.

Finally, I ask that you join me in thinking about and praying for those who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, and those first responders who may be on duty during the moments when we gather around the kitchen table or Christmas tree. They each make a sacrifice, along with their loved ones, so that we can enjoy this peace and blessings during this time of year.

As we look ahead to 2026, I remain committed to serving with integrity, guided by the values we share. It is an honor to represent you, and I thank you for the trust you place in me.

Let me close with a verse that speaks to the heart of this holy season:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

— Isaiah 9:6

May your Christmas be filled with grace, peace, and meaningful moments. And may the new year bring blessings, health, and hope to you and those you love.
