Representative Pollock Named Vice Chair Of House Banking And Insurance Committee

Frankfort, Kentucky (January 3, 2025) – Representative Michael Sarge Pollock of Campbellsville has been reappointed as Vice Chair of the Kentucky House’s Banking and Insurance Committee, House Speaker David Osborne announced this week.

“I am deeply honored by this reappointment and look forward to continuing to collaborate with my colleagues, industry leaders, and constituents to achieve solutions that benefit everyone. I’ve devoted my professional life to helping my friends and neighbors protect and preserve what matters most to them, and I appreciate the opportunity to use that experience to enact policies that benefit all Kentuckians. Together, we can build a robust and resilient system that promotes growth, trust, and opportunity for all,” said Vice Chair Pollock.

The Banking and Insurance Committee addresses legislation aimed at keeping funds invested in Kentucky banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions safe as well as ensuring that state laws properly address the various types of insurers operating in Kentucky.

“I’m incredibly pleased to see the direction this committee is heading in under the leadership of Representative Pollock,” Osborne added. “Committees are the backbone of the legislative process, serving as the critical mechanism by which complex issues are studied, debated, and refined. They allow legislators to focus on specific areas of policy, and provide a dedicated environment for public input, enabling citizens, experts, and advocacy groups to have their voices heard in the policymaking process.”

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, a committee chair “serves as the parliamentary head of a committee. The chair sets the committee’s agenda, determining when—or in many states, whether—bills will be considered.”

In addition to serving as Vice Chair of the House Banking and Insurance Committee, Representative Pollock will also serve as a member of the Agriculture Committee, Families and Children Committee, the Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee, and Co-Chair of the Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee.

The 2025 Regular Session will convene on Tuesday, January 7 and legislators will meet for 30 legislative days before adjourning by March 29. Kentuckians can keep up to date with legislative activity by visiting legislature.ky.gov or following @KYHouseGOP on Facebook, Twitter, and most major social media outlets.
