Kentucky State Police Investigate Attempted Murder Of Police Officer In Washington County

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (December 16, 2024) – A Kentucky State Police (KSP) Trooper has charged a Washington County man with attempted murder of a police officer.

On December 11, 2024, at 9:35 P.M. EST, KSP Post 15 received a call of a report of domestic violence at a residence on Saint Rose Lebanon Road in Washington County. A KSP Trooper and a Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Deputy responded to the residence to investigate the incident. Upon arrival, KSP and WCSO exited their patrol vehicles, and several rounds were fired toward them from the residence by Bradley Couch, 37, of Springfield. KSP and WCSO were able to give verbal commands to Mr. Couch to exit the residence. Mr. Couch complied with the commands and exited the residence shortly after the incident. Mr. Couch was placed under arrest without any further incident. 

Bradley Couch was lodged in the Marion County Detention Center and was charged with the following charges: 

Attempted Murder of a First Responder (Peace Officer) (2 Counts)

Attempted Murder (2 Counts)

Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (3 Counts)

Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence)  

Trooper First Class Patrick Stucker is investigating the incident. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted him at the scene.
