Columbia Film Festival A Huge Success, Similar Events Coming Soon

The first ever Columbia Film Festival was a huge success! For starters, the City of Columbia owes a debt of gratitude to Jenna Grant and Lance Burton for allowing us to screen their incredible films, without them the event never would have been possible. The City is also thankful to Lindsey Wilson College for being gracious hosts at the Slider Auditorium. Further, we offer our thanks to the Highland Station Art Gallery and the Adair County Arts Council for their advertisement of the event, along with everyone that served on the planning committee for the film festival.

Night one, held on Thursday June, 19th was the showing of “The Crow” by Jenna Grant, which was an insightful original film aimed at bringing light to issues that so many around us, and even in our community face. The entirety of the film was filmed here in our hometown.  The night also featured giveaways by ADANTA, out of Somerset.

Then, on Friday June, 20th was the showing of “Billy Topit” by Lance Burton, it was a family affair which gave the opportunity for the youth of Columbia to see a heartwarming and comedic story written, all while enjoying light refreshments, including Cotton Candy which was graciously donated by Billy Pickett. Surplus Cotton Candy will be available all week at City Hall, please come by and have some!

All in all, the first ever Columbia Film Festival was a hit, and you should be on the lookout for similar events coming soon!
