Federal Emergency Management Agency In Columbia For Site Inspection Along Allison Lane

The City of Columbia was pleased to have five staff members from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in town today to do a site inspection along Allison Lane in Columbia.

FEMA has been working with the City for some time now relating to the flooding that we experienced from February 14th – March 7th, which was FEMA disaster number 4860. The specific damage on Allison Lane was a shoulder and embankment failure along the roadway, due to flooding, as well as a washaway of gravel from the access road heading to the trail town kayak launch along Russell Creek.

The agency is also working with the City to reimburse the City for debris removal and emergency protective measures related to the flooding that was experienced during this same time period.

Further, the City is also working with FEMA for mitigation opportunities that will prevent future damage like what was experienced earlier this year.
