Columbia City Council Meeting Recap: February 3, 2025

The Columbia City Council met in regular session on Monday.

A group representing the Trabue Russell house spoke on the recommended rehabilitation of the structure of the home. Mary Ann Loy represented the group. The matter was discussed with the city council. More information on possible grants was discussed Council member Sharon Payne is to setup meeting with Lake Cumberland Area Development District.

First reading was given of an ordinance updating the pay classification plan for the City of Columbia. The city received a grant in the fall of 2023 and has been working with the Kentucky League of Cities on the Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Second reading of an ordinance for repealing of a previous ordinance pertaining the city’s personnel policy was passed.

A municipal order adopting the City of Columbia’s Personnel Policy Employee Handbook was approved.

A motion was approved to authorize application for additional ARC funding.

A resolution was passed to approve the certified ethics proposal.

Mike Watson was appointed as an alternate on the Police Hiring Board.

Allison Cross and Tina Thomas were appointed to the Downtown Days Committee.

The council approved a surplus vehicle to the Adair County Coroner’s Office.

The Mayor presented the logo for the Spirit of Columbia Awards that are going to be presented in the spring to local first responders for above and beyond duty. This is a project in conjunction with TJ Health-Columbia.
