From Mayor Pamela Hoots: The Columbia City Council had several items on the agenda for a meeting that lasted less than fifteen minutes.
The Council gave first reading to Ordinance #230.55 that was an ordinance repealing ordinance #230.53, The City of Columbia Personnel Policies, Adopting the City of Columbia Personnel Policies as a Municipal Order. The City had received a grant late in 2023 through the Kentucky League of Cities to update the policies and procedures for the city.
The Council also gave first reading to Ordinance #230.56, which is an ordinance updating the pay classification plan for the city.
The Council gave authorization to sign a resolution for the Community Development Block Grant project. It is for gas expansion and economic development. A public hearing was held earlier in the day concerning this project.
The Council noted the hard work of the city road department in their comments.
In the Mayor’s comments, the council gave authorization to apply for road aid funding for two city streets.
Andrea Feese was appointed to Downtown Days Committee. Resignations have occurred from the current committee.
Jenna Grant will be filming, “The Crow,” her class project from Belmont University in our community on the weekend of January 24 and January 31. There will be traffic control in the city limits on January 24 in the area(s) of Greensburg Street, Fortune Street, and High Street. Filming in the county will be in Greensburg Road and the Holmes Bend area. There will be around thirty people with her in town to film this project.
A change order has been requested on the Columbia Gas Relocation Project (ARC). Extra footage of casing was required due to relocation.
