“We are fortunate to have Lindsey Wilson University in our community,” stated Mayor Pamela Hoots in making an announcement about activities planned for the week of September 8-12 in Columbia to honor the university’s new branding and development.
“Our university, our students, our community,” noted Hoots in making the release this week.
The week will be designated to honor different parts of the local campus and their parts in the development and success of our community.
A presentation will be signed between Mayor Hoots and Judge Larry Russell Bryant that will designate the week of September 8-12 Lindsey Wilson University Week in our town.
Monday, September 8, will focus on the economic impact of the university in Columbia and Adair County. The Mayor will interview Larry Walker, Chairman of the local Economic Development Board, Walker will give statistics on the economic impact of the university in our community.
Tuesday, September 9, will showcase the athletic programs at the university including the sports offered and the various championships and awards received.
Wednesday, September 10, there will be a focus on diversity and an interview at the International Center.
Thursday, September 11, it will be “Paint The Town Blue,” in which businesses and individuals are asked to wear blue, decorate their businesses blue, and to use paint the sidewalks blue with a Lindsey Wilson University message. The Mayor will be on campus to meet and greet students that afternoon.
On Friday, September 12, they will be talking to students about their journey to Columbia and to the university.
“We hope that the community will get involved and support the university this week,” concluded Mayor Hoots.
