This week, the Lindsey Wilson University Women’s Basketball team hosted their 33rd annual middle school girls team camp that was directed by John Wethington and Mark Fudge for Lindsey Wilson Women’s Basketball.
This event was first brought about by John Wethington over 35 years ago, and has taken place every year since, minus the two years missed due to the COVID pandemic.
This year, 33 teams participated in the event, and over its three decades, it is estimated that more than 8,000 girls have participated in this event.
That includes players and teams from at least four different states.
This year, and in years past, the Lindsey Wilson Basketball Team Camp has brought thousands and thousands of people to Columbia, many of which have poured right back into the Columbia economy.
Mayor Pamela Hoots had this to say about the event, “We are proud of this event and what it brings to our community.”
This event is one of the many examples of great programs in our Columbia community that draw people in and help support our thriving local economy.
