The 2024 election season is officially over. Ballots were cast, and the candidates’ campaign efforts materialized in the form of election results at both the state and federal level.
As the 2024 election cycle comes to an end, I want to start by thanking you – the voters. Thank you for getting involved, standing in line to vote, and making your voices heard during this election cycle. In state and local elections especially, a few votes can be the difference between victory or defeat for a candidate.
I would also like to thank all the election officials who spent months preparing for this election cycle and for the poll workers who staffed polling locations across the state. You are an essential part of the election process and help ensure Kentucky’s election operations run smoothly. Thank you for your dedication, involvement, and service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Now that the election is over, it’s time to put our political differences aside and focus on working together. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing- to make the Commonwealth of Kentucky better. We just have different approaches and ways of getting closer to that shared goal.
As your elected representative in the Kentucky House, I promise to represent and be a voice for you and our district here in Frankfort. It’s an honor to serve, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
While the election may be over, make no mistake – our work is only just beginning. The 30-day 2025 Regular Session will begin on January 7, 2025, and is scheduled to adjourn on March 28.
However, our work does not start and end with each year’s legislative session. After the end of each legislative session, we enter the Interim, a period between legislative sessions. Each year the Interim serves as a period of preparation for us, as lawmakers, as we look forward to the following year’s session. Since the start of the Interim in June of this year, we’ve attended committee meetings to discuss some of the most prominent issues facing the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additionally, several task forces, specialized groups formed to discuss a particular subject matter, have convened this Interim including: the Artificial Intelligence Task Force, the Efficient and Effective School District Governance Task Force, the Kentucky Housing Task Force, and the Workforce Attraction and Retention Task Force.
This Interim, we’ve learned and will continue to learn about the issues affecting our state, which will inform the legislation we file for this upcoming session. As a legislative body, our goal is to create policies to better the Commonwealth of Kentucky and come up with solutions to some of Kentucky’s most prominent issues. We want to create policies that support our students, families, and veterans, improve our roads and healthcare, strengthen our workforce and economy, and champion Kentucky’s businesses and industries among other things.
As the Interim continues and the 2025 Regular Session nears, I encourage you to stay engaged and up-to-date with the things happening in Frankfort. One way to stay engaged is by tuning into meetings, which are streamed on the legislature’s YouTube page (@KYLRCCommitteeMeetings). Another way to stay engaged is by following the House Majority Caucus on social media (@KYHouseGOP).
