Columbia City Council Meeting Recap: June 2026

The Columbia City Council met in regular session on Monday, June 1, 2026. 

The Council had first reading on ordinance 220.197. The ordinance is for the amendment of the Columbia, Kentucky, annual budget for the fiscal year of 07-01-2025 through 06-30-2026 estimating revenues and resources and appropriating funds for the operation of city government. They also had first reading of an ordinance for the adoption of the annual budget for fiscal year 07-01-26 through 06-30-2027. 

They had a brief executive session pertaining to discussions between a public agency and a representative of a business entity and discussions concerning a specific proposal by open discussions would jeopardize the siting, retention, expansion, or upgrading of the business. No action was taken. 

They also had first readings on ordinances pertaining to the establishment and adoption of a curfew. One for establishing noise limits within the city limits; and, one for establishing a purchasing procedure. 

They authorized funding for a headset for the police department and extended the gas agreement for one year for a set price. 

They authorized some surplus equipment that will be subject to sale. 

They authorized Mayor Hoots to sign the forms for a Community Development Block Grant.
