City Of Columbia Clarifies Information, Details On Arrangement With Adair County Little League

The City of Columbia is clarifying some information and details about the arrangement with the Adair County Little League due to numerous questions being directed to the city.

The City of Columbia was contacted by the Adair County Little League in 2017; and, were requested to takeover operation of the Joe Johnson Little League Park. The City owns the two fields that were formally owned by the Little League. Fields #3 , #4, and the blue building are on land owned by the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. The city is responsible for the mowing outside of the Little League playing field and the land owned by the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce and the operation of the permanent structures.

The Little League is responsible for the operation of the Little League at the site; and, any fundraiser that is specific to the Little League. Little League is responsible for inside fields, umpires and operation of the programs, along with stocking and taking care of bathroom facilities. If you have questions specific to those concerns, please address to the board of the Little League. The Little League is responsible for carrying insurance on all participants and activities. The Little League generates all income through their registration fees and fundraising opportunities.

The City of Columbia is responsible for the maintenance of the outside mowing of fields and permanent fixtures and structures. The city receives no funding for their services (this was a part of the original agreement for the property). The city wanted to ensure that the park and fields were available for the residents of our community.
