On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 11:37 p.m. (CST), the Columbia Police Department was dispatched to Holloway Drive in response to a reported domestic violence complaint.
Columbia Police officers, along with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, located the alleged male suspect at the scene and took him into custody without incident.
The female victim was transported by Adair County EMS to the T.J. Health Columbia Emergency Room, where she was treated and later released.
Brandon L. Gist, 19, of Louisville, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
• Assault, 2nd Degree (Domestic Violence)
• Strangulation, 1st Degree (Domestic Violence Related)
Columbia Police Officer Nathan Ginn was the arresting officer and was assisted by Officer Tyler McKinney and Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy Hunter Tweedy.
