Indians’ Season Ends in 5th Region Semifinals Against North Hardin

The season came to an end in the semifinals of the 5th Region Tournament, but the Adair County Indians walked off the floor with their heads high after battling until the final buzzer against North Hardin.

Adair County fought hard throughout the night, finishing with 56 points on 17-of-68 shooting from the field. While the shots didn’t always fall, the effort and heart from this group never wavered. The Indians knocked down seven three-pointers and went 15-of-23 from the free throw line while also battling on the glass for 42 rebounds.

Senior guard Dawson Gilbert led the way offensively in what was his final game in an Adair County uniform. Gilbert poured in 28 points, connecting on 9-of-19 shots from the floor and hitting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. He was perfect at the free throw line, going 6-for-6, and added seven rebounds in a strong all-around performance.

Fellow senior Landon Blakey also delivered a strong effort in his final outing, scoring 17 points while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Blakey knocked down two three-pointers and went 5-of-7 from the free throw line, providing key plays on both ends of the floor.

Senior Tylin George added 10 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. George hit a three-pointer and went 3-of-4 from the free throw line while helping anchor the Indians’ effort on the boards.

Junior Jaden Wooten chipped in a point and four rebounds, while several underclassmen gained valuable experience in the high-pressure regional semifinal environment. The Indians also received rebounding contributions from Samuel Feese with four boards and John Shehan with five rebounds off the bench.

As a team, Adair County battled throughout the game on the glass, pulling down 42 rebounds, highlighted by Blakey’s 11 and George’s nine. The Indians showed toughness and determination even as North Hardin pulled away late.

While the loss brings the season to a close, this team leaves behind a season the Adair County community can be proud of. The seniors—Gilbert, Blakey, and George—set the tone with their leadership and effort, representing their school and community with class all year long.

The future also remains bright, with a talented group of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen gaining valuable experience that will carry forward.

Though the final chapter of this season was written in the regional semifinals, the pride, effort, and heart shown by this team will not be forgotten. The Adair County community is proud of this group and the way they represented their school every time they stepped on the floor.
