It was recently announced that an imminent closure of Synergy Food Group LLC in Columbia would be occurring.
As a background on this project, the City of Columbia received a Community Development Block Grant for the procurement of the building and did a loan for the remainder of the purchase price.
The City of Columbia has had several companies that have already expressed an interest in obtaining the property for business and/or manufacturing use. The City will be in contact with each one of these and will be in discussion over the next few weeks. Currently, Synergy Food Group LLC has the property until May 1, 2026.
According to Mayor Hoots, the city will be working with the Lake Cumberland Area Development District; as well as local legal counsel to ensure that an appropriate process is developed for the future purchase and/or leasing of the facility.
