Boil Water Advisory

For consumer of Columbia Adair Utilities District

8/30/2017 as of 2:30 P.M. customers from 4781-5278 Old Burkesville Road, 5505-7432 Burkesville Road, Hughes Road, Lasley Road, Jr. Loy Road, Corbin Road, Campbell Road, Damon. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.

Accident on HWY North 55 in Adair County

On 8-28-17 Adair County EMS along with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury Accident on HWY North 55. Mrs. Marian Melton of Columbia was operating a 2013 Nissan Altima south bound on HWY 55, when Ms. Sherri Giles of Campbellsville Ky operating a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am attempted a u-turn and pulled out in to the path of Mrs. Melton. Mrs. Marian Melton and her passenger Mr. Rodger Melton where injured due to the collision. Mrs. Marian Melton was treated on scene and taken to TJ Health Columbia for treatment of her injuries sustained in the accident. Mr. Rodger Melton was transported by Adair County EMS and was flown out to University of Louisville hospital. Both Ms Sherri Giles and her passenger Mr. Drew Cato refused transport by EMS. Adair County Search and Rescue also assisted on scene.

Two Russell Springs men were arrested on drug related charges Tuesday night

Around 9:45 p.m. Deputy Ethan Pike stopped a car on Weston Road for an equipment violation. While approaching the vehicle, Deputy Pike observed the driver making movements that caused the Deputy to believe the driver was attempting to conceal something.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Bobby M. Beard, 46, of Russell Springs. Beard was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Meth), Tampering with Physical Evidence and having an Obstructed Windshield. Approximately six grams of Methamphetamine and $1,886 cash was seized as evidence.

Additionally, Michael A. Johnson, 35, of Russell Springs, was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear in court after Deputies observed Johnson in a vehicle near the initial traffic stop. Johnson was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia.

Deputy Evan Burton, Deputy Dustin Bunch and Sgt. Mark Cromwell assisted with the investigation and subsequent arrests.
