A family recently lost everything in a house fire. They had young children--an 18 month old girl and two 8-year old twin boys. The contact person helping this family is asking for clothes and toys for the kids. Call 270-250-2665 if you have any children's clothes and toys to donate. 

Five Adair County High School juniors recently took home a first place award at the Kentucky State Fair for their incredible restoration of a 1947 Farmall tractor.
Sam Baker, Mason Carter, Preston Cundiff, Dylan Hancock, and Matthew McCarol began work on the project almost a year ago, and continued their efforts even during summer break, finally finishing the job in July. 
The young men won first place honors in the best Agriculture Mechanics Exhibit at the fair. 
Tpr. Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred Sunday, August 28th at approximately 3:45 CST 4 miles south of Liberty on KY 837. 67-year-old Tommy Valdez, of Bethelridge, KY was operating a northbound 1995 Ford pickup when he lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree. Valdez was airlifted to UK Medical Center. The cause of the condition is still under investigation.
The Adair County ABC currently has these three pending license applications:
--Coomer's Trading Post on Fairplay Road has applied for an NQ Malt Beverage License with the NQ-4 add on license
--Breeding County Mart on Burkesville Road has applied for an NQ Malt Beverage License
--Ridge Runner Liquors on rattler Curry Road has applied for Quota Retail Package License and NQ Retail Malt Beverage License.
NQ Malt Beverage Licenses are simply for the sale of malt beverage by the package. NQ-4 allows the sale of malt beverage by the drink. A Quota Retail Package License is for the sale of wine and spirits by the package. 
Licenses marked as NQ are considered Non-Quota -- there is essentially no limit to the number of license issued. NQ Malt Beverage Licenses are typically for gas stations, grocery or county store.
Th deadline to apply for first consideration of Quota Retail Package License was last Friday, August 26th.
The Adair County ABC office urges those interested in applying fore Quota Retail Package License to get their applications submitted as soon as possible.

Crews are nearing completion of the Heartland Parkway (KY 55) project in Adair County. 
The $6.99 million project includes 2+1 passing lanes from the Columbia Bypass (mile point 15) to the Adair/Taylor County line (mile point 22). A 2+1 road design has a continuous three-lane cross section with alternating passing lanes.
On Thursday, crews will begin to remove barrels, which will open the alternating passing lanes. Motorist are reminded to pay close attention to signage and roadway stripping to distinguish which direction has the right of way for passing .Date is subject to change to due inclement weather or unforeseeable delays.
Gaddie Shamrock LLC is the prime contractor the $7 million project.
Taylor County Sheriffs Office's is investigating the one-unit automobile accident occurring on August 29, 2016. Dannie Cox was traveling west on Stoner Creek Road, crossed over the east bound lane, left the roadway and traveled down the ditch line. At some point, Mr. Cox was ejected from the vehicle. He was treated at the scene by Taylor County EMS and transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for additional treatment for possible back and neck injuries. He was later released.
